Regarding the Bhotekoshi Flash Flood
All over the globe must have heard of the dramatic flash floods that occurred in Rasuwa district of Nepal. An unexpected calamity created by the huge flood, it was similar to Tsunami. Thousands of people lost their dear life from young children to elderly folks, including more than 600 hundred tourists.
On the bright sunny morning of August 26th, 2026, life was running normal.
Around the villages and major towns of Rasuwa, Nuwakott and Dhading districts,
the peaceful harmony turned into a nightmare. At 8:45 A.M. Nepal Standard Time, a huge dramatic flood burst all of a sudden and went wild.
The massive and huge flood flowed downstream of Bhote Koshi River sweeping and destroying buildings, houses. As it flowed across towards Rasuwa, Nuwakott and Dhading areas. Creating a mass havoc, it swept whatever came across the giant waves. It was a complete calamity where villages and towns, the main roads and bridges were destroyed.
The Source and Facts of the Bhotekoshi Flash Flood
Later it came to know that, after the big incident and calamity caused by the Tsunami like flood. The source and origin of the sudden giant flood was created due to avalanches of Langtang Himal range. Which shook like an earthquake near Nepal and Tibet, China borders. It was close to the county town of Kyarong. Rasuwa and Kyarong is the main door to all parts of Tibet by overland including the famous Mt. Kailash.
The sudden movements of Himalayan towering peaks, glaciers and icefall created a huge volume of cloud burst of snow. It turned into a huge avalanche and landslide around the mid-hills. The massive volume of water was formed and made the quiet Bhote River wild and nasty. The rapid current and mass volume of water flowed and swept away the towns, villages, people and animals.
This type of huge giant flash flood was unbelievable. It was unknown to the local inhabitants of both sides of Nepal and Tibet. The flood was like a bolt out of the blue, never ever existed in the past. The calamity by nature turned into a giant flood, a Himalayan Tsunami. The calm Bhote Koshi River turned into a wild flood flowing downstream towards Trisuli River. From Rasuwa, to Nuwakott, all the way to the lower warm foot hills of Dhading district.

Including the motorable roads and bridges, Syabrubesi was the prime location at 1,470 meters high. Langtang Himal falls within the Central Himal Range, the closest snow-mountain range from Kathmandu city and the valley.
