Fly from Tumlingtar to Kathmandu (45 minutes) and Transfer to Hotel

Trekking solo can be more expensive, as you’ll need to cover the full cost of jeep reservations, the porter guide’s salary, insurance, accommodation, and agency fees.

4. What essential items should I pack for the Makalu Base Camp Trek?

5. What if my flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar gets canceled due to bad weather?

If your flight is canceled and you can’t find an alternative for the next day, you can travel via Biratnagar:

  • Fly from Kathmandu to Biratnagar (30-40 minutes). Flights are available at 7 AM, 11 AM, 12 PM, and 2 PM.
  • From Biratnagar Airport, take an express bus to Dharan (1 hour, NPR 120 per person).
  • From Dharan Bus Station, head to the Dharan-Khandbari jeep counter.
  • If needed, call us for assistance. Keep in mind that jeeps leave only when fully loaded with 10 passengers.
  • To avoid delays, you can reserve a private jeep for NPR 10,000.
  • If no jeep is available, spend the night in Dharan and travel to Khandbari the next day (6-8 hours, NPR 1,000 for jeep/bus fare).

6. Will teahouses still be open in November?

Yes, November is peak trekking season, and most teahouses remain open until the second week. However, heavy snowfall after mid-November may lead some teahouse owners to close and return to Tasi Gaun. It's best to check conditions closer to your travel date.

7. Why are food and accommodation costs not included in the trekking package?

We exclude food and accommodation from our package to give you the freedom to choose meals and lodging that suit your preferences and budget. You’ll pay directly to the service providers along the trek, while your porter guide covers their own expenses. This approach often proves more affordable and flexible for trekkers.

8. What happens if I want to add extra days to my trek?

If you decide to extend your trek, we’re happy to accommodate your request. However, you’ll need to cover the additional daily salary for the porter guide once you return from the trek.
